Day 116: Ready Player Me

So I'm reading READY PLAYER ONE by Ernest Cline...for the second time in about a month. Got to thinking about my own haptic rig and how it'd look. I showed this to Preston and he said, "It looks like to souped up 80's jukebox" and I was like, "DUDE, THAT'S TOTALLY THE POINT."

I'm not kidding, this book is mind-blowing. For anyone with even a mild interest in 80s culture (especially 80s geek culture) or just has a heartbeat in general, this is a quick and LASTING book. I couldn't stop thinking about it between reads. I'm afraid I'm a little obsessed. I CAN'T...STOP...READING IT. JOIN ME PLEEEEASE.

P.S. Those are corn chips. Spoiler: the future is fueled by Fritos.

Do the sliders on her leg braces control the level of her socks? I think so.

Ready Player One is on my list, but it's a long list (but a geek book? It's high on the list, especially with your recommendation).

Ha! I didn't even notice the sock thing! But yes. They do. As someone who's very picky about my sock level, it's something I obviously unconsciously added. Thank you for noticing.

Not to tell you how to run your queue, but READY PLAYER ONE deserves some serious bumping to the top. There are mechas. There are deloreans. R2D2 is deejaying a party at one point. Supaidaman. Ultraman. Max Headroom. JUST SAYING.

Unfortunately it's up against Very Important Sequels like Dance With Dragons and The Law of Alloy. But it is currently #3 on my To Buy List, which is saying a lot. (I mean, seriously, there's Goliath and Red Glove/Black Heart. And I haven't even read Divergent yet or Across the Universe or freaking Paranormalcy. I need is more money.)

Man, I'd totally send you some! But I gave away all my ARCs already...and I haven't read Goliath yet. :) You should be a big time book reviewer and then people would just send you stuff for free (this is how I understand the business to work). For FREE!

Alright, alright. I added it to my to-read list. Happy?

(Psst - Thanks for the recommendation. Walking into a bookstore with no direction doesn't usually end well.)
