Day 351: Wiggle hair

A few years ago I was in a really bad biking accident that I don't remember much of. When I did get out of the hospital, they told me that all I had, besides bumps and cuts and bruises, was a concussion. Yay! However, when I picked up a sketchbook soon afterwards, I realized that I could. not. draw. It was the weirdest thing but I seriously could not draw a single thing that looked like what it was supposed to be. Freaked me out for a few days. After a week or two, things were back to normal and I made a speedy recovery (I think). However, I remember and cringe at that Algernonian feeling of once doing something very well, then suddenly not being able to do it at all.

There's a point to this, I swear. This is the fifth drawing I've made today; the rest have been horrifically bad. Savin draws better than me today. I think I accidentally got a concussion somewhere between playgroup and dinner.

What astounds me is you're only 15 drawings away from a whole year. Nice job!

Thanks!! Maybe I'm just running out of steam. Well, if there's one thing that the Olympics have taught me in the last 2 days, it's that I should double down and power through or the French will beat me.

365, hoooooooo!

That is positively terrifying! (Your story, not your drawing.) I had no idea! Well, I'm so glad you were able to power through whatever the problem was!

Thanks, Charles! I also wondered whether it was just a few bad days of drawing or something actually related to the concussion. Either way, I don't want to test it out again. :D

Whoa, that's crazy! I'm SO happy that you recovered. I can't imagine what that's like, and I hope I never have to know (besides the periodic feeling like I can't speak a coherent sentence or walk like a normal person - you know, the usual).
