Day 98: Cinderellaellaella
I once read Walt Disney claimed that his favorite scene of animation was Cinderella's transformation from rags to ball gown. When I told Preston that, he said, "What do you think he'd say if he saw something like Treasure Planet nowadays?" I replied that he'd probably say, "Raaagh, braaaaaaaains!" because he's been dead for quite some time.

Day 97: I'd be lion if I said I liked this...
Some days are just packed with silliness and all you can manage is a very oddly proportioned lion. I feel like it's a mutated Berenstain Bear gone wrong. Oh well...fun brush pen ahoy!

Day 96: Mermaid wishes
Pencil sketchy sketch sketch! I originally planned this as a silhouette, but there was too much fun detail to add. I cannot resist doing hair.

Day 95: Peter Pan and Tink
Peter Pan!
When I was a kid, I remember hearing my sister do a monologue about Tinkerbell and how if you said you don't believe in fairies, she'd die...but if you clapped your hands, she'd come back to life. In this particular monologue, apparently the audience didn't clap hard enough and she died. For good.
Oh wow, I found it! I misremembered a few things but still...pretty sad.

Day 94: Back on track!
Vacation is over! Let's get back to this silly thing, right? So I've never really tried oil pastels, but they were a Christmas gift; might as well! It's messy.
Here's to 2015: trying new things and stretching this 365 days of drawing out for at least another 600 more days!

Day 93: Holla for a kokeshi dolla...wait, I've made that joke already.
All. Day. DOLLS. More Harry Potters! More Nativities! I'm EXHAUSTED. I think I broke my record of number of dolls painted in one day. Can't wait to be done with commissions and move onto painting these sexy kokeshi beasts:
I'm kidding!
Kinda!

Day 91: Chibi Korra
The last episode of The Legend of Korra airs tonight! It's a show my daughter and I have watched a LOT over the last few years so it's sad to see it come to an end. Goodbye amazing show! Goodbye fun strong female protagonists! Goodbye that strange urge to learn karate once a week!

Day 90: Galadrielish
She started off as Galadriel then I forgot the elven ears and the hair turned blue, so...
Funny story about blue hair! The first art student I tutored was 10 years old. I was showing her a few of my sketches and she asked, "Why does everyone have blue hair?" And I said, "Well, I think brown hair is pretty boring. I mean, you see it around every day. It's fun to see something different, right?" And she flipped through the gobs of blue haired people in my sketchbook and replied, "Well, if everyone you draw has it, it's not that different, is it?"
Well said, overly-perceptive-for-her-age 10-year-old. Well said.

Day 89: Oh, my hippocampus...
I commandeered the whiteboard in the middle of Preston's attempts at visually explaining the nociceptive processes of the brain. He soldiered ahead. It's been a long night.

Day 86: Toof-airy
Savin asked if I was drawing the tooth fairy. I said yes. She sighed and said, "Well...I guess that *kinda* looks like her" with a tone that clearly indicated otherwise.
Ah well.

Day 84: Landa Calrissian
Let's not kid ourselves: would anything really have changed if Lando Calrissian was a woman? I submit to you: no. It would have been awesome. Mustache or not.
Back on track, part two! No more breaks!
Maybe!

Day 82: More more more dolls
More dolls...I know this isn't the most exciting part of 365characters, but it's all I have in me to do this modicum of art today. Hope to return to pen and paper once all these potters are done.

Day 81: He sees you when you're slacking...
So I really tried to not take a break this year of daily drawings (I sure as heck took them fast and furious last time) but the end of November got nuts all of a sudden and I needed a breather. But! We're back on track and as you can see, the dolls are still monopolizing the brunt of my create-o-time. Which is great! Dolls mean work! Work means someone likes my art enough to give me something for it! What more validation can I ask for, honestly?
Here's Santa! I sent off another one of these a few days ago and in my hastily typed note, I accidentally wrote: "Thank you for your purchase! Satan is on his way." Better watch out, indeed!

Day 79: Sunday Selfie: Ladytaur on the go
Ladytaur is busy, Ladytaur is on the run, Ladytaur doesn't have time for your questions regarding who she is, what she does and why her proportions are so off, okay? Give Ladytaur some space and leave a message with her assistant like a normal human being!
