All. Day. DOLLS. More Harry Potters! More Nativities! I'm EXHAUSTED. I think I broke my record of number of dolls painted in one day. Can't wait to be done with commissions and move onto painting these sexy kokeshi beasts:

Day 82: More more more dolls

More dolls...I know this isn't the most exciting part of 365characters, but it's all I have in me to do this modicum of art today. Hope to return to pen and paper once all these potters are done.

Day 81: He sees you when you're slacking...

So I really tried to not take a break this year of daily drawings (I sure as heck took them fast and furious last time) but the end of November got nuts all of a sudden and I needed a breather. But! We're back on track and as you can see, the dolls are still monopolizing the brunt of my create-o-time. Which is great! Dolls mean work! Work means someone likes my art enough to give me something for it! What more validation can I ask for, honestly?

Here's Santa! I sent off another one of these a few days ago and in my hastily typed note, I accidentally wrote: "Thank you for your purchase! Satan is on his way." Better watch out, indeed!

More dolls today! I thought I'd take a picture of a dozen half-finished ones, but it'd probably be more fun to see the mermaid who holds my pens instead. Thanks, mermaid!

No animation today; it was a doll painting day. More Harry Potter peeps! Voldemort turned out a little scarier than I had intended.

Day 58: The trio's complete!

Ron and Hermione join the pack! (Dumbledore, Snape and Voldemort have been commissioned as well. Yay!) Enjoy the bonus Darth Vader(s) peeking over the shoulder. There's got to be a fanfic out there with Darth at Hogwarts, I'm sure. Hmm...to the internet!

Like I said, this week is a busy week of dolls. Mmm. Yes. (The R2 I did a while ago, but Yoda is new.)

Working on dolls. Totally counts. I feel like I should totally have a "Harry Potter" tag now.

Day 32: Back to kokeshi land

The doll painting biz has picked up steam once again and I didn't have time for a physical pen and ink and paper drawing today. I was still reimagining characters, just in a different medium...totally counts! Ten points to Gryffindor if you can guess who I'm working on...maybe eight points; it's pretty obvious.

A whole new waaaaaave...

I really AM drawing lately, it's just on top of a wooden doll and then covered with paint. Quibblies has gone 3D baby! Side note: my daughter says all these dolls have "elevator lips" and I have NO idea why. Anyone have a three year old translator handy? No? Aww.

So this last week, I started a new business venture: custom painted kokeshi and peg dolls! Kokeshi dolls are pretty ubiquitous here in Japan, but I found some blank ones to paint myself which turned out pretty good. I've got this and a handful of other dolls up in my etsy shop if you're so inclined to give a gander. It's also kind of late so I got a bit loopy in writing out product descriptions.
